Adam Woronowicz on working on comedy projects: I enjoy "lighter" proposals

He is one of Poland's most versatile actors, known for both film and stage roles. He delivers an intense performance, often "disappearing" behind his character, making us forget we're watching an actor and only see the character. He has over 90 roles to his credit , and that number is growing rapidly, as he has appeared in several productions this year alone. Adam Woronowicz has often been cast as the villain, playing gangsters, secret police officers, prison directors, and even saints (Father Popiełuszko, Maksymilian Kolbe).
The actor also successfully portrays guys from the neighborhood, such as Dariusz Wasiak in "The Office PL," Tadeusz in "The In-Laws," Aleks in "Klara," and the title character in "Uncle Foliarz." Woronowicz displays a self-deprecating side in these roles.
"I'm happy with these 'lighter' offerings. I feel good about them. There came a time in my life when I started to feel the need to act in films where people had a good time and laughed, " Adam Woronowicz told PAP Life.

Viewers will have plenty of laughs in the family film "A Dog Who Rides a Railway 2," which hits theaters on August 8th. "I really liked the script of this film from the start. Of course, it's a clash with a legend, because I think everyone knows the short story by Roman Pisarski on which the film is based – it's required reading for school, after all. The audience's reaction to the first part turned out to be fantastic, so it's great that a second part has been made. There's a lot going on in it, it's really full of action and surprising twists," says the actor.
The first part of the film "A Dog Who Ridden a Railway" was released two years ago and proved to be a resounding success. Nearly 750,000 viewers saw the touching story of Lampo, a dog traveler, in Polish cinemas . The film also won prestigious awards in Poland and abroad, including the European Children's Film Award, and distribution rights were acquired by 64 countries worldwide. It's no wonder, then, that the filmmakers decided to make a sequel, despite the fact that the literary original has no sequel.
In both parts, Adam Woronowicz plays the role of the Railway Station Director – a conscientious objector who values order. In the sequel, his character takes center stage, as he is entrusted with the Lambo when the main character, Zuzia (Liliana Zajbert), and her parents (Monika Pikuła and Mateusz Damięcki), leave for surgery in the United States. In the sequel, Lampo will have a companion of the same breed (a Swiss Shepherd), Luna, who in the film is a dog adopted from a shelter. The canine characters had their own doubles, with five dogs playing the roles in both films.
Adam Woronowicz about his pet"Working on a set with animals definitely requires a lot of attention and focus from us actors, because there might not be another double," the actor recalls. "But our dogs, who came from Hungary, were fantastically prepared by their owners, who took great care of their comfort. They rode a lot of trains during the film, and even though they had quite complicated tasks to complete, they coped brilliantly and were eager to cooperate. However, the dogs' comfort was very well taken care of. You didn't feel at all stressed by being on camera. They felt very comfortable with us."
The Woronowicz family has had a dog named Charlie for two years.
"Rita, our daughter, talked us into it. It was her great desire to have a dog. Charlie is a Maltipoo—a mix of a Maltese and a Toy Poodle. I'm so glad he's finally in our home, because he's brought our family together incredibly well. My daughter takes care of him most of the time, but when I'm home, I try to take him for regular walks. There was a time when that first walk in the morning was always with Charlie, and when I came home from work, Charlie was often there with him," the actor says.
"The Dog Who Ridden a Railway 2" will be released in theaters on August 8th. The sequel, like the first film, was directed by Magdalena Nieć. In addition to the actors from the first film, it will feature new cast members, including Michalina Łabacz and Krzysztof Dracz.
Adam Woronowicz will star in a film about the assassination attempt on the PopeAs for Woronowicz's next project, this fall he will be seen in Władysław Pasikowski's long-awaited film "Attack on the Pope," which tells the story behind the assassination attempt on John Paul II . In an interview with PAP Life, Woronowicz shared his memories of working for Pasikowski.
"This was my second meeting with Mr. Władysław (Woronowicz starred in the films "Pitbull: The Last Dog" and "The Courier"), and I still remember this wonder every time. Pasikowski is an extraordinary figure for my generation, a true icon. I remember when "Psy" came out; I was in high school then, and I was applying to drama school a year or two later. He's a great director, and despite what's been said lately, I absolutely don't believe this is his last film. In "Zamach na papieża" (The Assassination of the Pope), I had the opportunity to act with Mr. Bogusław Linda for the first time in my life. I'm very happy about this meeting. Linda is an extraordinary, sensitive, and warm person, a wonderful friend, and I hope we'll be able to meet again in front of the camera."
"Attack on the Pope" will debut in cinemas on September 26.
